Swatching questions (aka Jen should get her own blog)

Ok, so I succumbed and bought more spotlight bamboo/cotton to make the Zephyr Style Rusted Root, like this one:

(from here)

The pattern (and yarn ball band) gauge is 20sts, 28 rows (per 10cm). My swatch is 20.5 sts and 27 rows. If I go up a needle size to try and get the stitch gauge spot-on my row gauge is likely to get even more inaccurate. Is it close enough?

Also, because I am lazy I haven't washed/blocked my swatch (I really have no idea whether blocking bamboo/cotton would make any difference, any one else know?) and I didn't knit it in the round, even though the pattern is knit in the round (and I guess this could change my gauge a little as the swatch is knit and purl while the actual pattern will be all knit). Do I really have to do that before I make a decision?

I think it is close enough....but then I don't swatch. The bamboo yarn if it is anything like the one I'm using to make a camisole it has a lovely drape to it and plenty of give. Maybe work a little loser....??
The little leaf pattern looks the same as in my Camisole. Very Pretty.

cool thanks grace. it's relieving to hear that someone else is similarly dismissive of swatching!
